UK threat level reduced
The Government Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has reduced the UK International Terrorist threat level from SEVERE to SUBSTANTIAL.

Substantial threat; means a terrorist attack remains a strong possibility which may occur without warning.

The Home Secretary said in a statement: "The change in the threat level to substantial does not mean the overall threat has gone away, there remains a real and serious threat against the United Kingdom and I would ask that the public remain vigilant"

2020 Vision goes back to school with lessons learnt
2020 Vision Technology has been commissioned by primary electrical contractor Veale Nixon and worked alongside electrical design consultants Cundall to implement a fully integrated IP-based access control and surveillance system for the new Bede Academy School being built in Blyth Northumberland by SURGO.
2020Vision were chosen having delivered a similar project at Excelsior Academy for the same team in 2008.

The Bede Academy replaces two secondary schools and one primary school in an area that has suffered in the wake of the collapse of the coal mining industry, which it relied on for employment up until the mid-1980s.

All education establishments present specific challenges from a security perspective and The Bede Academy is no different. During the day security incidents revolve around inappropriate behaviour of pupils: bullying, petty theft and vandalism for example. At night and during the long holidays the threats can be more serious - extending to arson, theft and criminal damage. - click for more on this story
